ABOUT THE ARTIST

RITA GINSBERG
Rita’s artistic journey began in her twenties when she began creating graphite and charcoal portraits for her friends and family. This foundation allowed her to develop an appreciation for light and contrast, which became essential elements in her portrait studies.
Originally from Michigan, Rita built a successful career as a graphic designer in the printing industry for about 25 years. Now retired, Rita resides alongside her husband in Mt. Pleasant, SC, where she dedicates most of her time to her art studio. Soft pastels have become her preferred medium, and allowing her artistic expression to flourish.
Rita first honed her skills by creating pet portraits, capturing the unique essence of beloved animals. Over time, her artistic interests expanded to include wildlife, birds, and serene landscapes. Her passion for wildlife art is now her primary focus, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the intricate details of her paintings. She often brings her Nikon camera on day trips, seeking opportunities to photograph egrets, osprey, herons, and other Lowcountry species for painting inspiration.
She is an active member of the Pastel Society of South Carolina (PSSC), and the Pastel Society of America (PSA) joining their exhibitions of fine art and workshops in the medium of dry pastel. She welcomes inquiries and commissions for both fine art and pet portraits. To get in touch, simply complete the contact form with a brief message, and she will respond personally.
